It is pleasure to hold this 49h Congress of the Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons with members of the association and our invited speakers at the city of sophisticated culture and art, Gwangju.
As a president, I wish to express my deep appreciation for your attendance.
Now, the dramatic change of open medical market and the medical law revision issue in Korea threatens us. However, we should be prepared to take this situation as a chance, not a crisis

That is, We should establish the new medical standard which can be competitive with the world leading one and be the leader in the world medical market through specialization, the export of medical industry, and selection and focus on future competiton field. For this, We need to do our best and self-development.
This Congress can be said to reflect our drive to raise the international competitiveness wholly.

Following this trend, this congress has prepared various academic programs with the world’s leading experts.
This is expected to be the chance to get the self-development and the wider sight through the various area of academic programs from traumatology, temporo-madibular joint disease, and oncology which is the basis in the field of the oral and maxillofacial surgery even to esthetic surgery and therapy of sleep apnea.

In addition, I would like to express my heartfull thanks to sponsors who have been concerned about the successful holding of the Congress and colleagues who spare the valuable time from the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Chonnam national university.
